Discovered this place via door dash and we were happy with our orders; the fish were very fresh. Today we decided to eat at the restaurant; it's located in the La Quinta Inn along El Camino. You can park along El Camino or park in the La Quinta Inn parking lot for free. Our order included the rainbow roll, Bashamichi Sushi Combo, and Rock n Roll. Customer service is friendly; they just forgot to fill up our tea cups and water. There was only one server so we understand. The restaurant is clean and love the decor and lighting.
A true hidden gem! My boyfriend and I came across this place after being ignored at naked fish down the street. Honestly a blessing, because this place is just sooo good! We got to the 49er roll, spider roll, bashamichi roll and tuna favor roll. All were melt in your mouth good. Nice pieces of fish and were refreshing. Service was great, we will definitely be coming back here!
Would have never thought about this restaurant except we were staying at the Wyndham hotel next door. This is a hidden gem. Very good bento box, tempura and yosenabe. Sushi was great and the atmosphere was charming. Prices were fair. Would definitely recommend.
We love this little place tucked in a La Quinta hotel on El Camino. Everything is always packed so nicely for take out. The flavors are exceptional. I always get the salmon cooked separately from the salmon fried rice. It has a lovely smoky flavor. Highly recommend!
Not a top notch sushi experience but very decent for the craving. Hamachi Kama- skinny. Size was smaller than accustomed to. It was okay. This is a great place to stop, char, and eat over good food and drinks.
Wow, this place is a hidden gem! It was a little difficult finding this place but it's located on the floor level of a hotel. When we arrived, the place was quiet and empty but started to get busy as our food arrived. The servers were very friendly and patient, they kept coming back to refill our tea and water. The food here is very reasonably priced and everything was delicious! I highly recommend!
If you like Treasure, I have a Treasure Box for you! These treasure boxes are popping up everywhere at Japanese restaurants and they're usually hit or miss. Take the ones in Brisbane, San Mateo, and SF for instance. They're usually pre-made slices of fish or side dishes without much thought. Here at Bashameshi it's made to order. That's right, they make it especially for you! Great Instagram worthy presentation with fresh fish. The chawanmushi was even better than the ones I've had in San Bruno or SF. Great texture and flavor. Highly recommend this! Great fried oyster and cucumber salad. Fresh sliced sashimi and sushi. Fresh roe eggs. This was a masterpiece visually and flavor wise! My friend got the upon and loved it. It was packed full to the brim! Great service, great food! Really is a hidden treasure in Millbrae!
I'm definitely a bit shook that a Japanese restaurant attached to a La Quinta like Bashamichi is this good. Your usual gut reaction is that this is probably not gonna be the greatest option, but honestly the sushi here is incredibly fresh and everything is pretty good quality. The staff are all Cantonese speakers so yes they are a Chinese owned business, but they are all super friendly/welcoming and do everything the right way. The inside has it's own character and is comfortable to dine in. They also give hot tea for free rather than charging $2+ plus for a cup of tea that uses cheap tea bags so that is a big win in my book. In my most recent experience I ordered 3 Items Bento Box with California Roll, Beef Teriyaki, & Salmon Teriyaki ($21.90) plus the Bashamichi Sushi Combo ($26). I was very impressed by how fresh each piece of fish was and it was a pleasant surprise. Their sashimi and nigiri are definitely worth getting. For me personally I had the bento and I do wish I asked for the beef teriyaki to be cooked medium rare since they cook it medium by default, but it still had good flavor plus a nice char to it. Salmon was also pretty standard and I was just happy it wasn't overcooked. California rolls are pretty standard, but tasty. I feel like where they shine most is their sushi in general. Parking wise the staff said that it was okay to park in the hotel parking garage, but street parking is still an option although more difficult to find plus you have to parallel park which is my worst enemy. There is a high chance that I would come back here because you can tell this is a restaurant that cares about quality and good service.
12/7/22 Zach and I were craving sushi for lunch. We decided to check out Bashamichi Sushi that's on El Camino. Street parking was plentiful on El Camino and the restaurant was empty since we got there around 2:15PM. We were seated immediately and menus were already on the table. As we looked over the menu, our waiter served us hot tea. Here's what we got to share: 1. Dynamite roll 2. Lion King roll 3. Bento box: spicy tuna roll, chicken teriyaki, beef short rib (+ miso soup) Given that we were the only patrons in the restaurant, everything flew out of the kitchen within 10 minutes. I will say that their rolls are on the smaller side, but they tasted good. The meats in the bento box were also delicious and not dry. The chicken and beef were tender and full of flavor. I also really appreciated that our waiter anticipated that we needed napkins before I asked him since we were using our hands to get all the meat off the short ribs. This is a solid place for a sushi craving with friendly and efficient service.
